Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat

The critics are rhyming, so I must too

But “The Cat in the Hat” hasn’t caught the flu

It merely is old, weak, sick, and tired

But thank goodness Mike Myers is the one that they hired

Myers plays the cat solid as a mouse

He invades one day into a strange little house

Sallie and Conrad are bored there at home

Until Myers storms in and is not alone

Myers tries to make things a party and not a disgrace

But he ends up wrecking the cute little place

The two kids are scared because their mom can be mean

And they soon have Alec Baldwin chasing them with steam

You see that the Cat is filled with love and not hate

Until Conrad opens a mind-bending crate

The house is messy beyond all means

So they sort things while the Cat cleans

In the end we feel happy but not satisfied

But it’s not so bad as to be despised

Myers has fun and we can see glimmer in his eyes
