            “Finding Neverland” is a movie primarily about imagination, and a very good one at that. Johnny Depp gives a brilliant performance as playwright J.M. Barrie, the famous author of Peter Pan. The film tells the story of how, around 1900, Barrie writes Peter Pan using inspiration from a widow (Kate Winslet) and her four sons. Dustin Hoffman also stars as Barrie’s theater manager and Julie Christie as Winslet’s mother (her character inspires Barrie’s creation of Captain Hook.)

            “Finding Neverland” is sure to score many Oscar nominations in the coming months, and it should build on Depp’s already impressive body of work. For a cheerful yet sad tale of a historical moment of the arts, “Finding Neverland” couldn’t be better. It is a beautiful story for the whole family to enjoy.
