March of the Penguins Narrated
by Morgan Freeman
Rated G
A true art-house cinema hit, “March of the Penguins” is a fascinating
documentary that chronicles the difficult journey of penguins in Antarctica.
With involving narration by Morgan Freeman, the film is special because it seems
to appeal to both children and adults equally.
The filmmakers of “March of the Penguins” spent thirteen months in
the freezing cold in order to capture the footage of these penguins, and their
hard work pays off. Following these animals along on their path, the audience
forgets that they’re watching animals, not actual people. With these
creatures, we experience the joyous times, such as viewing the penguin’s
children wrestling their way out of eggs; and the darker moments, such as the
baby chicks being eaten by their prey.
Overall, adult audiences will be moved by the survival of the animals in
the blistering cold, while children will find themselves entertained by the
sweet and funny penguins.
