Minority Report

*****

“Minority Report” is the best movie of the year, and possibly the best movie of this decade so far. I have never seen such wonderful special effects and such an interesting plot. I had no idea what was going to happen next, and some scenes were so creepy it was unbelievable. This once again proves that Steven Spielberg is the greatest director around today.

It’s 2054, in Washington DC,  and Tom Cruise is John Anderton,  the chief of Pre-Crime, a police force that stops murders before they actually happen. This Pre-Crime Force arrests people for crimes and murders not yet committed by relying on visions of three “Pre-cognitive” creatures.  Alongside this plot, is Anderton’s grief for his young son who was kidnapped many years ago.

When the smartest of the three Pre-Cogs, Agatha, predicts that Anderton will kill a man that he doesn’t even know, a fantastic chase begins with Anderton trying to prove he was framed. Cruise even goes as far as to take his own eyes out and switch them with someone else’s so the eye scans won’t detect him, which is just plain scary.

It goes on from there, with a dynamite ending, and great chases. If you’re looking for a summer blockbuster, forget every movie you had planned to watch and see “Minority Report.” It goes right up there with all of Spielberg’s other masterpieces and has such an original and futuristic theme to it that it is the ultimate movie.
