About Schmidt

This is the year’s most enjoyable, fun, sad, sweet movie!  Jack Nicholson plays Warren Schmidt, a retired insurance man in Omaha, Nebraska trying to figure out what he has done with his life. Shortly after he retires, Schmidt decides to sponsor an orphan Tanzanian child through a television ad for $22.00 a month. We then know what Schmidt is thinking and feeling by what he writes in his letters to his foster child – Ngudo. Tragedy strikes – not only does his wife of 42 years die but his daughter is marrying a loser with an eccentric, hippie family (Kathy Bates shines). When Schmidt hops in his Winnebago and heads to Colorado for the wedding, the entertainment begins. Schmidt is on a journey not only to Denver but to sole search and figure out if he has or still can “make a difference.” Jack Nicholson is at his best and deserves an Oscar Best Actor nomination.  No other movie has made me laugh and cry like this one has. One of the year’s best movies – don’t miss it!
