White Noise

Starring Michael Keaton

Rated PG-13

“White Noise” bases its premise off of EVP – Electronic Voice Phenomenon – a supposedly real system in which the dead contact the living through the white noise of TVs, radios, and other electronic equipment. The film itself is so dead that I’m surprised it even tried to contact audiences.

Michael Keaton stars as Jonathan Rivers, a man trying to contact his dead wife through, well, the electronic systems said above. What he doesn’t plan on is trying to stop murders before they happen, which fortunately his dead wife gives him information about. Does any of this sound familiar?

There are scares in “White Noise,” but most are illegitimate and forced. If there is one good thing about this boring film, it’s the return of Michael Keaton – a truly great actor in a really bad movie.
